This website employs a genealogical database, but Family History for me is not just the framework of Genealogy, but demands an understanding of Local History, on which I have read widely. Therefore I have sought a format which permits narrative content to tell something of the story of the men and women involved.

The Master Index lists everyone in the database alphabetically, by surname where this is known.

The Surname Index is the one to use if you are interested in those with a particular surname

The Longer Narrative section is only a selection of more interesting longer ones, for there are many others with narrative content

Charts currently shows my Batley lines of descent. Other charts may be added

About is a section which explains how my studies developed

Families is a section which will contain information about families mentioned which does not fit conveniently under the heading of particular individuals
