      Joseph Sheard was also known as Joseph Roberts. He was born in 1817. He was the son of Hannah Sheard. Joseph Sheard was baptized on 3 November 1817 at Batley on the same day as his mother's marriage to Joseph Roberts.¹

In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed in the household of James Sheard at Havercroft, Batley, the identification of the Joseph living with James as son of Hannah is based on the fact that James was Hannah's brother.²
Joseph Sheard married Martha Preston, daughter of George Preston, on 20 July 1845 at Batley witnesses were Michael Preston and Joseph Chadwick.¹
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as the head of household as a coal miner aged 33.³
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household as a Coal Miner.⁴
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at High St, Batley, as a weighman at colliery.⁵
Joseph Sheard died on 14 February 1878; aged 60 years.⁶

     Emma Graham was born circa 1840. She was the daughter of Benjamin Graham and Rachel (?). Emma Graham was baptized on 26 July 1840 at Dewsbury.²
She married Philip Blakeley, son of Abraham Blakeley and Sarah Wilson, in 1862.¹
Emma Graham died on 28 September 1900.

     Sarah Hannah Blakeley was born on 24 May 1857. She was the daughter of Reuben Blakeley and Jane Blakeley. In the census of 7 April 1861 she was listed as aged 3 the granddaughter of Abraham Blakeley.¹ In the census of 2 April 1871 she was listed as aged 13 the daughter of Reuben Blakeley at Russell St, Batley.²
Sarah Hannah Blakeley married Frank Burnley, son of Isaac Burnley and Ann Bentley, in 1876.³

     Andrew Blakeley was born in 1861. He was the son of Reuben Blakeley and Jane Blakeley. In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as aged 3 months the grandson of Abraham Blakeley.¹

     Rachel Blakeley was born in 1865. She was the daughter of Reuben Blakeley and Jane Blakeley. In the census of 2 April 1871 she was listed as a scholar aged 5 the daughter of Reuben Blakeley at Russell St, Batley.¹

     Benjamin Wilson Blakeley was born in 1863. He was the son of Reuben Blakeley and Jane Blakeley. In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as a scholar aged 8 the son of Reuben Blakeley at Russell St, Batley.¹
Benjamin Wilson Blakeley died in 1927 at New Zealand.

     Rachel Sheard was born on 10 June 1808. She was the daughter of George Sheard and Elizabeth Firth. Rachel Sheard was baptized on 26 June 1808 at Batley.¹

     Francis Sheard was born on 24 February 1803. She was the daughter of George Sheard and Elizabeth Firth. Francis Sheard was baptized on 12 June 1803 at Batley.
She died in 1804. She was buried on 15 May 1804 at Batley.¹

     Hannah Sheard was born on 28 January 1811.¹ She was the daughter of George Sheard and Elizabeth Firth. Hannah Sheard was baptized on 24 February 1811 at Batley.¹

     Benjamin Sheard baptised same day as brother Joseph, so probably twins. He was born in 1813. He was the son of George Sheard and Elizabeth Firth. Benjamin Sheard was baptized on 19 September 1813 at Batley.
He died in 1817 at Batley. He was buried on 8 January 1817 at Batley.

     Enoch Sheard was born in 1816. He was the son of George Sheard and Elizabeth Firth. Enoch Sheard was baptized on 28 April 1816 at Batley.¹
He died on 29 April 1816. He was buried on 30 April 1816.¹

     Joseph Sheard was born in 1813. He was the son of George Sheard and Elizabeth Firth. Joseph Sheard was baptized on 19 September 1813 at Batley.¹

     Ann Naylor was born in September 1842 at Thornhill. She was the daughter of Joseph Naylor. Ann Naylor married Jacob Sheard, son of Isaac Sheard and Harriet Stubley, in 1867.¹
In the census of 2 April 1871 Ann Sheard was listed as a power loom weaver at Inman Fold, Ravensthorpe, wife of Jacob Sheard.²
In the census of 3 April 1881 Ann Sheard was listed at Albion Street, Mirfield, as wife of Jacob Sheard.³
In 1883 Ann Sheard and Jacob Sheard arrived in Little Falls, NY having sailed on the Wisconsin with three children, Isaac, Florence and Alice, arriving in New York on the 19th June.^4,5 Ann Sheard accompanied her husband's aunt Mary Seniorand Isabella Mitchell and Martha Clafton on a visit to England in 1889. The party left New York in June and returned in October, arriving on the 15th on the "Aurania."⁵ In the census of 1892 Ann Sheard was listed at Little Falls, Herkimer, New York, as wife of Jacob Sheard.⁶
In the census of 1900 Ann Sheard was listed at 48½ Furnace St, Little Falls, Herkimer, New York, as wife of Jacob Sheard.⁷
Ann Naylor died on 18 July 1901 at Little Falls, NY, at age 58.

     Lavinia Graham was born on 29 July 1844.² She was the daughter of Benjamin Graham. Lavinia Graham married David Sheard, son of Abraham Sheard and Maria Sheard, in 1867.¹
In the census of 2 April 1871 Lavinia Graham was listed at Cobden Street, Batley, as wife of David Sheard.³
Lavinia Graham died on 2 July 1876 at age 31.²

     Richard Herbert Sheard was born on 10 July 1847. He was the son of Joseph Sheard and Sarah Ann Colbeck. Richard Herbert Sheard was baptized on 19 September 1847 at Batley.¹
He died in 1848. He was buried on 30 August 1848 at Batley.¹

     George Beaumont was born circa 1862. He was the son of William Beaumont and Grace Sheard. In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as a scholar the son of William Beaumont at Mill Lane, Batley.¹
In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as a piecer at a woollen mill the son of William Beaumont at Mill Lane, Batley.²
George Beaumont married Eliza Kazia Thorp on 29 May 1882 at Batley.³
George Beaumont died on 6 March 1927.³

     Mary (?) was born circa 1818 at Alverthorpe, Wakefield. She married Abraham Ibberson, son of William Ibberson and Hannah Blakeley.

     Susanna Thompson was born in 1823. She was the daughter of John Thompson and Rachel Colbeck. Susanna Thompson was baptized on 12 January 1823 at Batley.
In the census of 6 June 1841 she was listed with her grandfather Charles Thompson.¹ Susanna Thompson married John Preston, son of William Preston, on 17 September 1844 at Batley This marriage deduced to be correct one from presence of Susanna's sister Rachel A Thompson with the couple in 1861.²
In the census of 30 March 1851 Susanna Preston was listed at Carlinghow, Batley, as wife of John Preston.³
In the census of 7 April 1861 Susanna Preston was listed at Carlinghow Road, Batley, as wife of John Preston.⁴
In the census of 2 April 1871 Susanna Preston was listed at High St, Batley, as wife of John Preston.⁵

     John Taylor was born on 24 July 1855 at Batley. He was the son of John Taylor and Sarah Chadwick. In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as a scholar the son of John Taylor at Cross Bank, Batley.¹
John Taylor married Martha Ann Smith, daughter of Joseph Smith and Nancy Richardson Fox, on 9 April 1885 at Hanover Street Chapel, Batley.²
John Taylor died on 4 November 1898 at Batley at age 43.

     Martha Ann Smith was born on 9 August 1857 at Batley. She was the daughter of Joseph Smith and Nancy Richardson Fox. Martha Ann Smith married John Taylor, son of John Taylor and Sarah Chadwick, on 9 April 1885 at Hanover Street Chapel, Batley.¹
Martha Ann Smith died on 18 December 1918 at Batley at age 61.

     William Alexander Taylor was born in 1889. He was the son of John Taylor and Martha Ann Smith. William Alexander Taylor married Elsie Hirst, daughter of Walter Hirst, on 9 February 1919.¹

     Elsie Hirst was the daughter of Walter Hirst. Elsie Hirst married William Alexander Taylor, son of John Taylor and Martha Ann Smith, on 9 February 1919.¹

     Joseph Chadwick was born on 26 June 1786 at Batley. He was the son of John Chadwick and Elizabeth Gaunt. Joseph Chadwick was baptized on 12 August 1786 at Batley.¹
He married Mary (?).
Joseph Chadwick was listed as Parish clerk in Baines' Directory in 1822.²
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the head of household at Up Lane, Batley, a farmer.³
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as the head of household at Up Lane, Batley, widower aged 64, farmer of 56 acres employing 3 labourers. Niece Elizabeth Chadwick also living with him.⁴
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household at Church Lane, Batley, as a farmer; about 60 acres, aged 74.⁵
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Up Lane, Batley, as a farmer.⁶
He died on 9 June 1871 at Batley at age 84.⁷
He, described as Parish Clerk aged 84, was buried on 13 June 1871 at Batley.¹
James Willans, speaking of some fifty or sixty years before he wrote, said
"South of the Churchyard were the farmhouse and buildings of Mr Joseph Chadwick, the parish clerk, whose family had held the office for four generations."⁸

     Mary (?) married Joseph Chadwick, son of John Chadwick and Elizabeth Gaunt.

      Tabitha Senior was also known as Batthy Green. She was born circa 1807. She was the daughter of John Senior and Ann Haigh. Tabitha Senior married Charles Green on 1 October 1827 at High Hoyland.
In the census of 6 June 1841 Batthy Green was listed at Skelmanthorpe as wife of Charles Green.¹
Tabitha Senior died in 1849. She was buried on 28 December 1849 at St Augustine, Scissett, ; aged 42.²
