     George Stubley was born in 1822 at Barnsley. He was the son of John Stubley and Martha Easton. George Stubley was baptized on 5 January 1823 at Barnsley.
George Stubley and James Stubley were said to have been taken to the Old Mill by their father on the day after his return to Batley. There they shared a wage of about 3s a week as piecers, working 6am to 7pm and finishing at pm on Saturdays. From being piecers George & James became feeders at 4s a week, then carders at 8s a week and then fettlers at 12s a week.1
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as a woollen weaver the son of Martha Stubley at Back Lane, Batley.2
George Stubley married Sarah Ibberson, daughter of Abraham Ibberson and Mary Richardson, on 2 April 1849 at Liversedge.

Bottoms Mill

in 1850 George Stubley and James Stubley his brother, supposedly having saved £150 each, set up a venture of their own, in a building in an area known as the Bottoms, by Batley Beck. Initially they were commission spinners, according to Willans working largely for the Sheards by whom they had formerly been employed.3,4
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as a widower, a spinner and is living with his brother James Stubley.5
George Stubley married Sarah Kitson in 1851.6
In 1854 the Crimean War brought a period of success, with large Government contracts. However, the war's end almost saw the end of this Stubley venture when a large Government order for army blankets was cancelled. The Company were treated sympathetically by their creditors, enabling them to carry on, and this faith in them was justified when, fifteen years later, every creditor was paid out in full.7

In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household at Albert Street, Batley, as a Woollen manufacturer employing 60 men, 81 women, 22 boys.8
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Albert Terrace, Batley, as a a Town councillor, woollen manufacturer employing 600 hands, and farmer of 127 acres employing 5 men and 1 boy.9
He was listed in the census of 3 April 1881 at Chidswell House, Chidswell Lane, Soothill, as a woollen manufacturer, a widower.10
George Stubley married Annie Robinson in 1886.
In the census of 5 April 1891 he was listed as the head of household at 121 Westgate, Wakefield, as a a cloth manufacturer.11
George Stubley died on 14 April 1908 at Carlton. He was buried on 18 April 1908 at the Cemetery, Batley.

He was born on 17 September 1831 at Barnsley. He was the son of John Stubley and Martha Easton. In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the son of Martha Stubley at Back Lane, Batley.1
John Stubley married Jane Greenwood, daughter of Christopher Richard Greenwood and Susanna Blakeley, in 1850 at Wakefield.2
He was listed in the census of 7 April 1861 at Soothill Lane, Hanging Heaton, as a Cloth Fuller.3
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Soothill, Hanging Heaton, as a woollen cloth fuller.4
