     Benjamin Whitaker was born on 16 February 1809.¹ He was the son of John Whitaker and Mary Senior.¹ Benjamin Whitaker was baptized on 2 April 1809 at Batley.¹

     John Whitaker was born in 1817. He was the son of John Whitaker and Mary Senior. John Whitaker was baptized on 15 June 1817 at Batley.¹
John Whitaker was said to have been apprenticed to Michael Spedding.²
John Whitaker married Mary Simpson, daughter of John Simpson, on 6 November 1837 at Batley Witnesses were Benjamin Senior and Joseph Hudswell.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the head of household at Havercroft Lane End, Batley, as a woollen manufacturer.³
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as the head of household at Havercroft, Batley, as a woollen manufacturer employing 8 women, 13 girls, 34 men and 16 boys.⁴

     Mary Simpson was born circa 1815 at Leeds. She was the daughter of John Simpson. Mary Simpson was baptized on 7 October 1816 at St Peters, Leeds.¹
