     Ethelinda Farrar was born circa 1867 at Batley. She was the daughter of John Farrar and Emma Scargill. In the census of 2 April 1871 she was listed as the daughter of John Farrar.
Ethelinda Farrar married Edgar Sheard, son of John Sheard and Martha Hannah Wild, on 12 August 1889 at Batley Edgar at the time was listed as a bookkeeper in Leeds, and Ethelinda as a schoolmistress.¹
In the census of 5 April 1891 Ethelinda Sheard was listed at 28 Elford Place, Potter Newton, Leeds, as wife of Edgar Sheard.²
In the census of 31 March 1901 Ethelinda Sheard was listed at 466 Hempshaw lane, Stockport, Cheshire, as wife of Edgar Sheard.³

     Thomas Watson was born circa 1814. He was the son of Joseph Watson. Thomas Watson married Selina Sheard, daughter of Benjamin Sheard and Elizabeth Chappel, on 6 November 1838 at Dewsbury Witnesses were James Gledhill and Samuel Chew.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the head of household at Morley hole, Morley, "M" presumably for master.²
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as the head of household at Middlethorp, Morley, as an overlooker.³
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household at Town End, Morley, as a woollen cloth manufacturer employing 37 men.⁴
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Town End, Morley, as out of business, There are a housemaid and a cook.⁵

     Sarah Stubley was born on 10 May 1856.¹ She was the daughter of John Stubley and Jane Greenwood. Sarah Stubley died on 17 July 1878 at age 22.^1,2

     Hannah Elizabeth Stubley was born in 1861. She was the daughter of John Stubley and Jane Greenwood.

     John Thomas was born circa 1819. He married Elizabeth Stubley, daughter of Charles Stubley and Hannah Mason, in 1853.¹

     Jeremiah Hudswell was born in 1830. He was the son of Jeremiah Hudswell and Elizabeth Pyrah. Jeremiah Hudswell was baptized on 15 August 1830 at Batley.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the son of Jeremiah Hudswell at Up Lane, Batley.²
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed at Leeds Road, Huddersfield, lodging with a Sarah Hardy and family, and described as a chemist. (On the same page of the Census is a William Marriot, born in Mirfield, described as a manufacturing chemist employing 10 men and 4 females, and me might speculate as to whether Jeremiah was working for him.).³
In Australia Jeremiah went by the name of Harry.
By the 1860s Jeremiah Hudswell was living at Landsborough, Victoria, Australia, a small goldmining town, part of the goldrush area from the mid 1850s. He does not seem to have made his fortune, but set up in business as a carpenter, painter and undertaker. He chose to use the name of Harry, but probate documents confirm that this was Jeremiah.⁴ We do not know whether Jeremiah ever saw this notice which his descendant found in an Argus newspaper, but that the message comes through the agency of Dodgshuns suggests that his brother Edwin who worked for them, and whose own financial circumstances were improving, had been instrumental in posting it.

     Mary Whitaker was born in 1821 at Batley. She was the daughter of John Whitaker and Mary Senior. Mary Whitaker was baptized on 18 November 1821 at Batley.¹
She married John Day, son of John Day and Sarah Blakeley, on 4 November 1838 at Wakefield.²
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the son-in-law of an unknown person.³ In the census of 30 March 1851 Mary Whitaker was listed at New Road, Batley, as wife of John Day.⁴

     John Whitaker is the son of Joshua Whitaker. John Whitaker married Mary Senior on 25 July 1803 at Batley witnesses Jeremiah Chadwick and Jonas Sheard.¹

     Mary Senior was born in 1778. She married John Whitaker, son of Joshua Whitaker, on 25 July 1803 at Batley witnesses Jeremiah Chadwick and Jonas Sheard.¹
She was listed in the census of 6 June 1841 at Havercroft Lane End, Batley, as a rag dealer. Also present is a visitor, Eliza Whitaker.²
