     Jane Greenwood was born on 5 June 1822 at Batley. She was the daughter of Christopher Richard Greenwood and Susanna Blakeley. Jane Greenwood was baptized on 16 June 1822 at Batley.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 she was listed as the daughter of Christopher Richard Greenwood at Union Mill, Soothill.²
Jane Greenwood married John Stubley, son of John Stubley and Martha Easton, in 1850 at Wakefield.³
In the census of 2 April 1871 Jane Stubley was listed at Soothill, Hanging Heaton, as wife of John Stubley.⁴
In the census of 3 April 1881 Jane Stubley was listed at Soothill as wife of John Stubley.⁵
Jane Greenwood died on 3 June 1884 at age 61.

     Emma (?) was born circa 1842. She married John Stubley, son of John Stubley and Martha Easton, between 1881 and 1891.
Emma (?) died on 18 February 1917 aged 75 years.¹

     Leonard Stubley was born in 1833 at Barnsley. He was the son of John Stubley and Martha Easton.
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the son of Martha Stubley at Back Lane, Batley.¹
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as a cloth dresser the son of Martha Stubley at Batley.²
Leonard Stubley married Mary Brown on 25 February 1859 at The Registry Office, Gomersal, (Mary identified from fact that she was visiting her parents with son George Henry at the time of the 1861 census).³
He was listed in the census of 7 April 1861 at Soothill Lane as a cloth dresser with his brother-in-law Hiram Newsome.⁴
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Wellington St., Batley, as a spinner.⁵
In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as the head of household at Taylor St., Batley, as an overlooker in mill.⁶

     Martha Stubley was born in 1838 at Batley. She was the daughter of John Stubley and Martha Easton. In the census of 6 June 1841 she was listed as the daughter of Martha Stubley at Back Lane, Batley.¹
In the census of 30 March 1851 she was listed as a piecer the daughter of Martha Stubley at Batley.²
Martha Stubley married Hiram Newsome, son of Thomas Newsome, on 17 February 1861 at All Saints, Dewsbury.³
In the census of 7 April 1861 Martha Newsome was listed at Soothill Lane as wife of Hiram Newsome.⁴
Martha Newsome appeared on the census of 2 April 1871 in the household of John Stubley and Jane Stubley at Soothill, Hanging Heaton.⁵

     Hiram Newsome was born circa 1837 at Batley Carr. He was the son of Thomas Newsome. Hiram Newsome was baptized on 29 March 1838 at Dewsbury.¹
Hiram Newsome was also known as Iram Newsome. He married Martha Stubley, daughter of John Stubley and Martha Easton, on 17 February 1861 at All Saints, Dewsbury.²
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household at Soothill Lane as a cloth dresser.³

     Martha Booth was born on 22 January 1835. She married Joshua Taylor, son of Thomas Taylor and Rebecca Willans, on 24 June 1870.
In the census of 2 April 1871 Martha Taylor was listed at Healey, Batley, as wife of Joshua Taylor.¹
In the census of 31 March 1901 she was listed as the head of household at Westfield, Healey, Batley, as a widow aged 66.²
Martha Booth died on 22 May 1914 at age 79.³

     Gertrude Elsie Taylor was born circa 1875 at Batley.¹ She was the daughter of Joshua Taylor and Martha Booth. In the census of 31 March 1901 she was listed as aged 26 the daughter of Martha Taylor at Westfield, Healey, Batley.²
Gertrude Elsie Taylor was engaged to be married to an old family friend, Sir Henry Norman Rae, then a widower. but sadly he died suddenly on the 31st of December 1928 whilst visiting her.³

     Edmund Audsley Taylor was born in 1876.¹ He was the son of Joshua Taylor and Martha Booth.

     Theodore Cooke Taylor was born on 3 August 1850 at Batley. He was the son of Joshua Taylor and Alice Cooke.
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as a scholar aged 10 the son of Joshua Taylor at Healey Bottom, Batley.¹
Theodore Cooke Taylor was educated at Batley Grammar School. In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as aged 20 the son of Joshua Taylor at Healey, Batley.²
Theodore Cooke Taylor married Sarah Jane Ingraham in 1874.
In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as the head of household at Bottom of Healey, Batley, as a woollen manufacturer, a master.³
In 1884 Theodore Cooke Taylor was appointed a Justice of the Peace.

In the census of 5 April 1891 he was listed at Sunny Bank, Upper Batley, as a woollen manufacturer.⁴
In 1892 Theodore Cooke Taylor bought out the other partners in the firm.

Profit Sharing
He was then able to put into practice his ideas of profit sharing, so that employees might feel they and ownership were "pulling together" for common benefit.
Making the business into a Limited Liability Company in 1896, he was at first the sole director, but in 1918 formed a Board drawn from managerial staff. Seeing full workers control as unwise, shares held by management gave a stake in Company control, whilst those held by others, though with the same financial rights, did not.⁵


Between 1900 and 1918 Theodore Cooke Taylor was Member of Parliament for the Lancashire Division of Radcliffe -cum-Farnworth. He described his interest in politics as "never partisan, but mainly as one means of improving the lot of mankind."
He married Mary Isabella McVean in 1920, his first wife having died the previous year.
Theodore Cooke Taylor was visited by George Sheard and Douglas Sheard at Cheapside Mill soon after his hundredth birthday. Douglas tells us:-
" I was sitting in the car, and my Father had entered the offices to meet Mr. Taylor. GS was a little early for the appointment, and Mr. Taylor’s limousine rolled up to the door after he had gone in. It was raining, and I personally observed Mr. Taylor get out of the car and climb the approximately 20 steps to the big front door, 2 steps at a time. He was a wiry little man with a grey beard and a twinkle in his very clear eyes. He had taken all his 2500 employees and spouses to Blackpool on buses some 2 weeks before for the celebration of his 100th birthday and had danced with them. He remained active with the company until his sudden, (and unexpected), death in 1952."⁶

Theodore Cooke Taylor told William's great grandson Douglas Sheard that he had, as a very young man, been in partnership with his great grandfather William Sheard and invested in his enterprise.⁶

Theodore Cooke Taylor died on 19 October 1952 at Grassington at age 102.

     Julia Taylor was born in 1853. She was the daughter of Joshua Taylor and Alice Cooke. In the census of 7 April 1861 she was listed as a scholar aged 8 the daughter of Joshua Taylor at Healey Bottom, Batley.¹
In the census of 2 April 1871 she was listed as the daughter of Joshua Taylor at Healey, Batley.²
Julia Taylor married Walter Bagshaw, son of John Bagshaw and Ann Horsfield, on 25 March 1885.
In the census of 5 April 1891 Julia Bagshaw was listed at Bridge Street, Batley, as wife of Walter Bagshaw.³
Julia Taylor died on 16 March 1927.⁴

     Arthur Willans Taylor was born on 9 August 1854. He was the son of Joshua Taylor and Alice Cooke. In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the son of Joshua Taylor at Healey, Batley.¹
Arthur Willans Taylor married Helen Mary Rae.

     Lizzie Taylor was born in 1860. She was the daughter of Joshua Taylor and Alice Cooke. In the census of 7 April 1861 she was listed as aged 1 the daughter of Joshua Taylor at Healey Bottom, Batley.¹

     Alice Taylor was born in 1856. She was the daughter of Joshua Taylor and Alice Cooke. Alice Taylor married Richard Charles Needham in 1886.¹
Alice Taylor died in 1953.²

     Herbert Taylor was born in 1858. He was the son of Joshua Taylor and Alice Cooke.

     Charles Taylor was born in 1859. He was the son of Joshua Taylor and Alice Cooke.

     Arnold Taylor was born in 1860. He was the son of Joshua Taylor and Alice Cooke.

     Joshua Taylor was born on 16 November 1871. He was the son of Joshua Taylor and Martha Booth.

     Abraham Taylor Said to have been apprenticed to the trade in 1762 (profit sharing booklet). He was born in 1745. He was the son of John Taylor. Abraham Taylor married Hannah Hudswell, daughter of Joshua Hudswell, on 19 May 1773.¹
Abraham Taylor died in 1808.

     Hannah Hudswell was the daughter of Joshua Hudswell. Hannah Hudswell married Abraham Taylor, son of John Taylor, on 19 May 1773.¹

     John Taylor was described as of Chapel Fold.

     Sarah Taylor was born in 1774. She was the daughter of Abraham Taylor and Hannah Hudswell. Sarah Taylor married James Keighley on 30 November 1797 at Batley.¹

     John Taylor married Ann Booth.
John Taylor was born in 1775. He was the son of Abraham Taylor and Hannah Hudswell.

     Ann Booth married John Taylor, son of Abraham Taylor and Hannah Hudswell.

     Hannah Taylor was born in 1776. She was the daughter of Abraham Taylor and Hannah Hudswell.

     Joseph Taylor was born on 9 February 1781 at Batley. He was the son of Abraham Taylor and Hannah Hudswell. Joseph Taylor was baptized on 18 March 1781.¹
He married Sarah Newsome, daughter of Martha Newsome, on 26 July 1810 at Batley.¹
