     George Newsome was born in 1822. He was the son of Abraham Newsome and Sarah Heppleston. George Newsome was baptized on 3 March 1822 at Batley.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as a weaver the son of Abraham Newsome at Havercroft, Batley.

     Harriot Newsome was born circa 1831. She was the daughter of Abraham Newsome. In the census of 6 June 1841 she was listed as the daughter of Abraham Newsome at Havercroft, Batley.

     Abraham Newsome was born circa 1834. He was the son of Abraham Newsome and Mary Murgatroyd. In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the son of Abraham Newsome at Havercroft, Batley.

     Charles Newsome was born on 29 May 1837.¹ He was the son of Abraham Newsome and Mary Murgatroyd. Charles Newsome was baptized on 27 August 1837 at Batley.¹

     Sarah Ann Newsome was born circa 1838. She was the daughter of Abraham Newsome and Mary Murgatroyd. In the census of 6 June 1841 she was listed as the daughter of Abraham Newsome at Havercroft, Batley.

     Ann Daughtry was the daughter of Rodger Daughtry. Ann Daughtry married Abraham Newsome, son of George Newsome and Jane Blakeley, on 5 October 1845 at Dewsbury.¹
In the census of 7 April 1861 Ann Newsome was listed at Bank Foot, Batley, as wife of Abraham Newsome.²

     Oliver Newsome was born circa 1842. He was the son of Abraham Newsome and Mary Murgatroyd. In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the son of Abraham Newsome at Bank Foot, Batley.¹

     Alma Newsome was born on 1 April 1855.¹ She was the daughter of Abraham Newsome and Ann Daughtry. Alma Newsome was baptized on 27 May 1855 at Batley.¹
In the census of 7 April 1861 she was listed as the daughter of Abraham Newsome at Bank Foot, Batley.²

     Peter Newsome was born in 1824. He was the son of Abraham Newsome and Sarah Heppleston. Peter Newsome was baptized on 8 August 1824 at Batley.¹
He died in 1825. He was buried on 14 April 1825 at Batley ; as an infant.¹

     William Newsome was born in 1826. He was the son of Abraham Newsome and Sarah Heppleston. William Newsome was possibly the one baptized on 4 June 1826 at Batley.¹
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as a weaver aged 24 the grandson of Peter Heppleston.² William Newsome married Emma Collinson on 6 April 1851 at Dewsbury.³

In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household as a woollen cloth fuller.⁴

In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Victoria Street, Batley, as a fuller.⁵
In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as the head of household at Beck Lane, Batley, as a cloth fuller.⁶

     Ann Sharp was born on 5 June 1812 at Batley. She was the daughter of Samuel Sharp and Sarah Beaumont. Ann Sharp was baptized on 1 July 1812 at Batley.¹

     James Watson was born circa 1839 at Thornhill. He married Mary Ann Hall, daughter of William Hall and Harriet Pycock, in 1859.¹
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at The Fleece, Church Lane, Batley, as Innkeeper.²
James Watson married Lavinia Smith in 1879.³

     Benjamin Sheard was born on 4 March 1863 at Batley.¹ He was the son of Joseph Sheard and Sarah Jane Preston. Benjamin Sheard married Sarah Ellen Hall, daughter of William Hall and Eliza Sharp, on 22 December 1892 at St Giles Church, Pontefract.²
In the census of 31 March 1901 he was listed as the head of household at 19 Norfolk Street, Batley, as teaching at the technical school. Also with the family is Thomas A Smith aged 23, general domestic servant.³
Benjamin Sheard died on 18 October 1934 at age 71.¹

     Joseph Sheard was born circa 1837 at Morley. He married Sarah Jane Preston in 1860.

     Joseph Asquith was born circa 1821 at Dewsbury. He married Ann Brearley in 1855.¹
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household.

     Samuel Brearley was born on 4 April 1854.¹ He was the son of Dan Brearley and Ann Holliday. Samuel Brearley was baptized on 14 May 1854 at Batley.¹
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as a schlar the step-son of Joseph Asquith.

     David Bailey was born circa 1796 at Soothill. He married Sarah (?).
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as the head of household at Hanging Heaton as a cordwainer. Lodging with the family is Jeremiah Mitchell, who was later to be in partnership with another, Bailey, Charles, in America.¹

     Sarah (?) was born circa 1796. She married David Bailey.
In the census of 30 March 1851 Sarah Bailey was listed at Hanging Heaton as wife of David Bailey.¹

     Joseph Bailey was born circa 1827. He was the son of David Bailey and Sarah (?). In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as a woollen cloth weaver the son of David Bailey at Hanging Heaton.¹

     Richard Bailey was born circa 1828. He was the son of David Bailey and Sarah (?). In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as a woollen cloth weaver the son of David Bailey at Hanging Heaton.¹

     Samuel Bailey was born circa 1832. He was the son of David Bailey and Sarah (?). In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as a piecener the son of David Bailey at Hanging Heaton.¹

     Edward Bailey was born circa 1835 at Oldham, Lancashire. He was the son of David Bailey and Sarah (?). In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as a piecener the son of David Bailey at Hanging Heaton.¹
Edward Bailey married Mary Heppleston, daughter of Robert Heppleston and Ellen Senior, on 14 June 1856.²
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household at Albion Street, Batley, as a woollen rag dealer.³
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Jubb's Mill Yard as an engine driver.⁴
In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as the head of household at Jubb's Mill Yard, Batley, as engineer in mill.⁵

On 23 August 1884 An account in the Batley News tells us that Edward, who until some three months ago had been working as engineer at Victoria Mills, Carlinghow, had left to take up a similar post at Perseverance Mill, Niederschönweide. In the course of work being done on the mill premises he is said to have fallen into a boiler flue and been severely injured, though his condition was improving.⁶
A further account the following week from a Mr R H Gates at Schonweide on behalf of John Blackburn, claims that although his engineer Edward did fall the previous week's account was ridiculously exaggerated.⁶
It would be nice to think that this was the case, but I have not been able to find out more. Edward must have died before 1891 when his wife is listed as a widow.

     Beaumont Sharp was born on 18 December 1807.¹ He was the son of Samuel Sharp and Sarah Beaumont. Beaumont Sharp died on 8 October 1825 at age 17.¹

     Joseph Beaumont was born circa 1741. He was the son of John Beaumont. Joseph Beaumont was baptized on 5 February 1741 at Batley.¹
He married Sarah Scholefield on 24 January 1774 at Batley by licence. Joseph is described as of [this] parish, but the way this has been put in brackets may suggest that there was some hestation as to what should be put, and I think this is the Joseph Beaumont later described as of Beverley.¹
Joseph Beaumont died on 24 April 1822; in the 81st year of his age.² He was buried on 30 April 1822 at Batley.¹
