Sheard Parker died on 4 September 1953 at Utica, New York, at age 49; as a consequence of a plane crash. He is said to have survived the crash itself but gone back to help others and been killed when the plane exploded.1

     Lucy Firth was born in 1828. She was baptized on 16 June 1828 at Batley.1
She was the daughter of John Firth. Lucy Firth married Joseph Bolton, son of Sarah Bolton, on 21 December 1851 at Wakefield Witnesses were Mark Andrews and P Heptinstall. Joseph gives his father's name as Charles, actually the name of his grandfather.2,3
In the census of 7 April 1861 Lucy Bolton was listed at Up Lane, Batley, as wife of Joseph Bolton.4

In the census of 2 April 1871 Lucy Bolton was listed at 5 Ilberoyd Road, Batley, as wife of Joseph Bolton.5
In the census of 3 April 1881 Lucy Bolton was listed at Mill lane, Batley, as wife of Joseph Bolton.6
In the census of 5 April 1891 Lucy Bolton was listed at 2 Mill Lane, Batley, as wife of Joseph Bolton.7
In the census of 31 March 1901 she was listed as the head of household at 2 Camp Lane, Leeds,, described as supported by her children.8

     Joseph Bolton was born on 29 April 1871.1 He was the son of Joseph Bolton and Lucy Firth.
In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as a scholar the son of Joseph Bolton at Mill lane, Batley.2
In the census of 5 April 1891 he was listed as a fireman the son of Joseph Bolton at 2 Mill Lane, Batley.3

Joseph Bolton married Emma Newsome, daughter of Joseph Newsome and Martha Preston, on 2 March 1895 at St John the Evangelist, Carlinghow, Batley.1
In the census of 31 March 1901 he was listed as the head of household at 9 Weston View, Holbeck, Leeds, as an engine tenter.
In the census of 1911 he was listed as the head of household at 55 Taylor Street, Batley, as a mechanic, labourer.1

In 1912 Joseph Bolton and Emma Bolton emigrated to Australia sailing on the SS Limerick.1
Arriving in Cairns where Joseph's brother Dan Firth Bolton had been living since 1887, Joseph and family then headed north to the far northern Queensland town of Mount Mulligan wherre he maintained stationery steam engines and could use his coal industry knowledge gained in Yorkshire.1
Joseph Bolton was able to produce good references including one from Soothill Wood Colliery.
By the mid 1920s Joseph and Emma moved back to Cairns and settled into a new cottage at 200 Lake Street recently built for them by their son Joseph Newsome Bolton.1
Joseph Bolton then found work as a stevedore on the Cairns wharf where he remained until his retirement.
He died on 22 February 1941 at the District Hospital, Cairns, at age 69 of carcinoma of the stomach.1
Joseph and Emma were to live to see 15 Australian born grandchildren, but Yorkshire roots were not forgotten when relatives added this plaque to their unmarked grave.

In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as as a bricklayer's apprentice the son of Joseph Bolton at Mill lane, Batley.2
John Firth Bolton married Emma Ann Baines on 17 July 1886 at The Parish Church, Woodkirk.3
John Firth Bolton emigrated to Australia with his brother and sister-in law Dan Firth Bolton and Mary Bolton in 1887 but unlike them did not remain there.3
In the census of 31 March 1901 he was listed as the head of household at Oxford Terrace, Soothill Lane, Soothill, as an engine tenter.4
John Firth Bolton died on 1 October 1936 at 21 Haybeck Lane, West Ardsley; Cause of death was given as angina pectoris following an inquest on October 2nd.
John was described as a retired boiler fireman.3,5 He was buried on 5 October 1936 at St Mary, Woodkirk.6

     Joseph Newsome was born on 7 June 1851.1 He was the son of William Newsome and Emma Collinson. Joseph Newsome was baptized on 21 September 1851 at Batley.1
