According to an account in the Batley News he began work on the mill in 1857 and the engine was set going on September 18th 1858 at Soothill.7
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household at Broomfield House, Soothill, as a woollen cloth manufacturer employing 49 men and 49 women.8
In 1864 Isaac Colbeck was listed as a manufacturer of pilots, witneys, army cloths, &c. at Lady Ann Mill.9

He died on 8 March 1884 at age 63as of Brier Hall, Gomersal.3,11

About a hundred of his workmen headed the procession, then came the hearse followed by ten mourning coaches drawn by black horses, then private carriages, and interestingly as carriages are the vehicle usually mentioned in these accounts, Mr Colbeck's waggonette and Mr George Colbeck's waggonette.

Witnesses were W Henry Colbeck and Eliza Wainwright. In a newspaper entry Simeon's occupation is given as traveller, and he is described as of London, and Ann of Ardsley.3

Although his father was a staunch protestant, Simeon Colbeck became a Roman Catholic, It had taken Catholics a while to raise funding for a Church in Batley, but in 1870 the Parish Priest Father Thomas Bruno Rigby was able to commission a Leeds architect, John Kelly to design St. Mary's Church, Cross Bank, which was opened on December 15th 1870. Simeon's family were generous benefactors, and in 1890 stained glass in their memory was added.7
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Haigh Moor, West Ardsley, as a cloth manufacturer, A cook and housemaid are employed.8
He and his brother William Henry Colbeck sold Cheapside Mills to Messrs J., T. and J. Taylor of Blakeridge Mills in 1874.4
Simeon Colbeck established new works at Alverthorpe near Wakefield together with his son and others. He was described as an indefatigable worker who opened the gates for his workforce in the mornings and left long after his employees had finished at night.4

Although his father was a staunch protestant, Simeon Colbeck became a Roman Catholic, It had taken Catholics a while to raise funding for a Church in Batley, but in 1870 the Parish Priest Father Thomas Bruno Rigby was able to commission a Leeds architect, John Kelly to design St. Mary's Church, Cross Bank, which was opened on December 15th 1870. Simeon's family were generous benefactors, and in 1890 stained glass in their memory was added.7
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Haigh Moor, West Ardsley, as a cloth manufacturer, A cook and housemaid are employed.8
He and his brother William Henry Colbeck sold Cheapside Mills to Messrs J., T. and J. Taylor of Blakeridge Mills in 1874.4
Simeon Colbeck established new works at Alverthorpe near Wakefield together with his son and others. He was described as an indefatigable worker who opened the gates for his workforce in the mornings and left long after his employees had finished at night.4
In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as the head of household at Haigh Moor Road, West Ardsley, as a cloth manufacturer.
He died on 14 December 1905 at Ben Rhydding at age 79.9
