     Mary Scatcherd was born in 1753. She was the daughter of John Scatcherd. Mary Scatcherd married Thomas Walker on 11 September 1770 at Batley.^1,2

     John Scatcherd died in 1776.¹

     John Scatcherd was born in 1751.¹ He was the son of John Scatcherd. In 1796 John Scatcherd was one of the original trustees of the Batley Old Mill.
He married Susannah Bevers on 6 September 1818 at Batley.²
In 1831 John Scatcherd made a will ; in which, describing himself as a maltster, he mentions shares both in Batley Old Mill and Clerk Green Mill.¹ He died in 1832.¹ He was buried on 29 January 1832 at Batley ; aged 81.²

     5th Earl of Wilton, Arthur George Egerton, was born in 1863. He was the son of 4th Earl of Wilton (?) Egerton. 5th Earl of Wilton, Arthur George Egerton, died in 1915.

     The 6th Earl of Wilton, Seymour Edward Frederick Egerton was born in 1896. He was the son of 5th Earl of Wilton, Arthur George Egerton. In 1909the 6th Earl of Wilton, Seymour Edward Frederick Egerton donated twenty-eight and a half acres of woodland for a public park.¹ In 1920 the 6th Earl of Wilton, Seymour Edward Frederick Egerton sold a part of his Batley estate including the freehold of theWoodlands Estate to David Stubley; bought a part of the Wilton Estate in Batley including the freehold of the Woodlands Estate from.¹ The 6th Earl of Wilton, Seymour Edward Frederick Egerton died in 1927.

     Joseph Wharton was born on 27 September 1788. He was the son of Christopher Wharton and Mary Healey. Joseph Wharton was baptized on 9 November 1788 at Batley.¹
He married Sarah Thompson, daughter of Charles Thompson and Susanna Chadwick, on 26 May 1811 at Batley witnesses were Stephen Chappell and Jeremiah Chadwick.¹
Joseph Wharton died in 1837. He was buried on 23 December 1837 at Batley ; aged 49.¹

     Susanna Wharton was born on 16 February 1812. She was the daughter of Joseph Wharton and Sarah Thompson. Susanna Wharton was baptized on 5 April 1812 at Batley.¹
She married Thomas Preston, son of John Preston and Martha Marshall, on 25 December 1833 at Batley witnesses were Thomas Wilby and Joseph Chadwick.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 she was listed as in the household of Thomas Wilby.²
In the census of 30 March 1851 she was listed as the head of household at Carlinghow, Batley, as a widow.³

     Ann Wharton was born in 1817. She was the daughter of Joseph Wharton and Sarah Thompson. Ann Wharton was baptized on 25 May 1817 at Batley.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 she was listed as aged 20 the daughter of Sarah Wharton at Batley.²
In the census of 30 March 1851 she was listed as the daughter of Sarah Wharton at Carlinghow, Batley.³

     Sarah Wharton was born in 1819. She was the daughter of Joseph Wharton and Sarah Thompson. Sarah Wharton was baptized on 26 December 1819 at Batley.¹

     Thomas Wharton was born in 1828. He was the son of Joseph Wharton and Sarah Thompson. Thomas Wharton was baptized on 28 September 1828 at Batley.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the son of Sarah Wharton at Batley.²
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as a stone mason the son of Sarah Wharton at Carlinghow, Batley.³
Thomas Wharton married Rebecca Senior, daughter of Squire Senior and Frances Hall, on 2 May 1852 at Batley witnesses were Charles Thompson and |John Preston.¹

     Edith Hall was born circa 1883 at Batley. She was the daughter of Louis Hall and Amelia Dean. In the census of 5 April 1891 she was listed as a scholar the daughter of Louis Hall at Ivy Cottage, 25 Purlwell Lane, Batley.¹
In the census of 31 March 1901 she was listed as the daughter of Louis Hall at High St., Uppingham, Rutland.²

     Edgar Dean Hall was born in 1889 at Batley.¹ He was the son of Louis Hall and Amelia Dean.¹
In the census of 5 April 1891 he was listed as aged 2 the son of Louis Hall at Ivy Cottage, 25 Purlwell Lane, Batley.²
In the census of 31 March 1901 he was listed as the son of Louis Hall at High St., Uppingham, Rutland.³

Edgar Dean Hall had a distinguished wartime career, first gaining a commission in the Northumberland Fusiliers then transferring to the Royal Flying Corps. He was a member of 101 Squadron. Formed at Farnborough on 12th July 1917, it moved to the Western Front, flying FE2 biplanes against enemy targets in France and Belgium.⁴
In 1918 he was awarded the Croix de Guerre.^4,5
In WWII he is understood to have taken an emergency commission in the REME, retiring as a Major.⁴

     Thomas Wilby was born on 7 June 1788 at Carlinghow, Batley. He was the son of Peter Wilby and Alice Ingham. Thomas Wilby married Ann Thompson, daughter of Charles Thompson and Susanna Chadwick, on 18 September 1815 at Batley witnesses were Thomas Thompson and Samuel Sharp.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the head of household as independant.²
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as the head of household at Carlinghow, Batley, as a retired proprietor of mill and houses.³
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household at Carlinghow Road, Batley, as a retired woollen manufacturer.⁴
Thomas Wilby died on 6 December 1863 at age 75; aged 75.⁵ He was buried on 9 December 1863 at Batley.¹

     Thomas Preston was born in 1834. He was the son of Thomas Preston and Susanna Wharton. Thomas Preston was baptized on 27 April 1834 at Batley.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as in the household of Thomas Wilby.²
Thomas Preston died in 1850. He was buried on 21 June 1850 at Batley.¹

     Mary Ann Preston was born in 1836. She was the daughter of Thomas Preston and Susanna Wharton. Mary Ann Preston was baptized on 3 April 1836 at Batley.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 se was listed as aged 5 the granddaughter of Sarah Wharton.² She was listed in the census of 30 March 1851 at Carlinghow, Batley, as a sevant. I believe this to be his niece; as a retired proprietor of mill and houses.³

     Sarah Preston was born in 1840. She was the daughter of Thomas Preston and Susanna Wharton. Sarah Preston was baptized on 2 June 1840 at Batley.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 she was listed as in the household of Thomas Wilby.²
In the census of 30 March 1851 she was listed as aged 10 the daughter of Susanna Preston at Carlinghow, Batley.³

     4th Earl of Wilton (?) Egerton, was born on 20 January 1839. He died on 3 January 1898 at age 58.

      Mary Elizabeth Senior was also known as Pollie. She was born circa 1860. She was the daughter of Samuel Senior and Elizabeth Brearley. Mary Elizabeth Senior married her cousin Arthur Brearley, son of Thomas Brearley and Hannah Morrell, on 27 July 1882 at the Parish Church, Batley, witnesses were Samuel Senior and Robert Brearley.¹
In the census of 5 April 1891 Mary Elizabeth Brearley was listed at Oakdene, Upper Batley, Batley, as wife of Arthur Brearley.²

     Jane T Senior was born in 1862. She was the daughter of Samuel Senior and Elizabeth Brearley. In the census of 5 April 1891 she was listed as aged 29 the daughter of Elizabeth Senior at "The Rookery", Batley.¹

     Amy Thompson Senior was born in 1872. She was the daughter of Samuel Senior and Elizabeth Brearley. Amy Thompson Senior married George Preston, son of Martha Brooke, in 1895.¹
Amy Thompson Senior died on 24 April 1960.²

     Elizabeth Speight married Peter Lister Sheard, son of Benjamin Sheard and Margaret Gledhill, on 23 December 1852 at Dewsbury he signed, she made her mark. Witnesses were Stephen Smithson Gill and Paul Ward who both signed.^1,2
Elizabeth Sheard died on 20 October 1860 at West Ardsley; as wife of Peter Lister Sheard, a cloth miller. The cause of death was given as puerperal fever, so a clear consequence of childbirth.³

     George Sheard was born on 26 September 1860.¹ He was the son of Peter Lister Sheard and Elizabeth Speight. George Sheard was baptized on 16 December 1860 at Batley.¹

     Jane Rainforth was born circa 1825. She married John Law, son of George Law and Martha Hall, in 1862.

     Benjamin Law was born circa 1844. He was the son of John Law and Susannah Talbot.
