Francis Popplewell married Sarah Senior, daughter of George Senior and Mary (?), on 10 July 1836 at Birstall.
As of 1841, Francis Popplewell was also known as Frank. In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the head of household at Top of Heckmondwike, Heckmondwike, as a blanket manufacturer.1
It is possible that Emma Popplewell born around 1843 and later described as niece and then adopted daughter of Jennet ?Senior, his wife's sister, who married Joseph Pyrah.

Emma Popplewell
#6314, b. circa 1843
Emma Popplewell was born circa 1843. I have not found a baptism for Emma. It is possible she was a daughter of Francis Popplewell which would account for her being described as Jenet Senior's niece, and a link with this family of Poplewells certainly seems likely. In the census of 30 March 1851 she was listed as aged 7 the niece of Joseph Pyrah.1 In the census of 7 April 1861 she was listed as the adopted daughter of Jenet Pyrah at Popplewell's Build, Brewery Bridge, Thornhill.2
