George Sheard was born on 29 May 1802 at Batley. He was the son of William Sheard and Grace Lister. George Sheard was baptized on 8 August 1802 at Batley.1
He married Rebecca Blakeley, daughter of Samuel Blakeley and Ann Shaw, on 25 April 1822 at Batley witnesses David Sheard and Thomas Law.1
On 18 February 1840 George Sheard with John Sheard and William Sheard were probably the ones brought before the court at Wakefield as insolvent debtors, all three being described as cloth manufacturers. There were other Sheards of the same names, but these look likeliest as brothers.2
George Sheard married Martha Talbot, daughter of John Talbot and Hannah Carr, on 12 October 1840 at All Saints, Wakefield, as Martha Sheard or Talbot.
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the head of household at New Batley, Batley, as a clothier, with second wife Martha and her some of her children by first husband, David Sheard. George's own children from his previous marriage are being looked after by grandparents.3
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as the head of household at N Side Commercial St, Havercroft, Batley, as a hand loom weaver living with son Titus and his own mother Grace, who one imagines, having previously looked after George's older children, has helped with Titus's upbringing. Grace, however, was to die in 1854.4
George Sheard died in 1852 at Batley. He was buried on 29 April 1852 at Batley.1
