     Susannah Farrar was born in 1813. She was the daughter of George Farrar and Mary Newsome. Susannah Farrar was baptized on 19 September 1813 at Batley.¹
She married Joseph Hill, son of John Hill and Mary Wildsmith, on 8 July 1832 at Wakefiled.²

     George Farrar was born in 1825. He was the son of George Farrar and Mary Newsome. George Farrar was baptized on 20 March 1825 at Batley.

     Joseph Fell married Ann Sheard, daughter of George Sheard and Ann Greenwood, on 17 September 1824 at Batley witnesses Thomas Law and Thomas Parr.¹
He was listed in the census of 6 June 1841 at Commercial Street, Batley, as a clothier. Living with the apparently widowed Joseph is Robert Spurr, an apprentice, Bessey Ineson, aged 2, and Margaret Hil aged 3.²
He was listed in the census of 30 March 1851 lodging with James Richardson, Woollen Manufacturer and carrier, with son James and Bessie Ineson.³

     Grace Fell was born in 1825. She was the daughter of Joseph Fell and Ann Sheard. Grace Fell was baptized on 8 May 1825 at Batley.

     James Fell was born in 1828. He was the son of Joseph Fell and Ann Sheard. James Fell was baptized on 22 June 1828 at Batley.

     Elizabeth Fell was born in 1831. She was the daughter of Joseph Fell and Ann Sheard. Elizabeth Fell was baptized on 14 February 1831 at Batley.
She died in 1832. She was buried on 6 May 1832 at Batley.

     Joshua Drake was born in 1801. He was the son of Francis Drake and Sarah Wood. Joshua Drake was baptized on 28 March 1801 at Batley.¹
He married Martha Hall, daughter of Joseph Hall and Elizabeth Taylor, on 25 July 1822 at Batley on the same day as her siter Grace married James Redfearn.¹
Joshua Drake appeared with other Batley men including my ggg-grandfather William Blackburn on the census of 6 June 1841 as a prisoner in York Castle, then serving as a debtors gaol
; a prisoner for debt, along with others I believe to be from Batley.² Joshua Drake died in 1849. He was buried on 30 August 1849 at Batley ; aged 48, as of Clerk Green.¹

     Harriet Farrar was born circa 1835 at Batley. She was the daughter of Benjamin Farrar and Hannah Maria Sheard. She was listed in the census of 30 March 1851 piecer in woollen mill.

     Edmund Farrar was born circa 1837 at Batley. He was the son of Benjamin Farrar and Hannah Maria Sheard. He was listed in the census of 30 Mar 1851 piecer in woollen mill.¹

     Ruth E Farrar was born circa 1839 at Batley. She was the daughter of Benjamin Farrar and Hannah Maria Sheard. Ruth E Farrar married William Ineson in 1859.^1,2

     Edwin Farrar was born circa 1840 at Batley. He was the son of Benjamin Farrar and Hannah Maria Sheard. He was listed in the census of 30 March 1851 piecer in woollen mill.¹

     Allen Farrar was born circa 1847 at Batley. He was the son of Benjamin Farrar and Hannah Maria Sheard.

     Mary Chappel was born in 1745. She was the daughter of Charles Chappel and Hannah Ellis. Mary Chappel was baptized in March 1744/45 at Batley.¹

     Benjamin Chappel was born in 1758. He was the son of Charles Chappel and Hannah Ellis. Benjamin Chappel was baptized on 15 January 1758 at Batley.

     Abraham Chappel was born in 1749. He was the son of Charles Chappel and Hannah Ellis. Abraham Chappel was baptized on 2 July 1749 at Batley.

     Hannah Ellis married Charles Chappel on 3 June 1745 at Batley.

     Sarah (?) was born circa 1802 at Alverthorpe, Wakefield. She married John Ward, son of Samuel Ward and Hannah Spedding.
In the census of 6 June 1841 Sarah Ward was listed at Havercroft, Batley, as wife of John Ward.¹
In the census of 30 March 1851 Sarah Ward was listed at 43 J Ward's Hill, Batley, as wife of John Ward.²
In the census of 7 April 1861 Sarah Ward was listed at Senior's buildings, Batley, as wife of John Ward.³
Sarah (?) died on 3 July 1870; aged 55 years.⁴

     James Lister Newsome was born on 25 October 1840 at Batley.¹ He was the son of Samuel Newsome and Hannah Crowther. James Lister Newsome was baptized on 22 November 1840 at Batley.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as aged 8 months the son of Samuel Newsome at Havercroft, Batley.²
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as the son of Samuel Newsome at Havercroft, Batley.³
He was listed in the census of 7 April 1861 at Up Lane Grocer's shop, Batley, as a Grocer.⁴
James Lister Newsome married Elizabeth (?).

     William Henry Lister Newsome was born on 5 February 1845 at Batley.¹ He was the son of Samuel Newsome and Hannah Crowther. William Henry Lister Newsome was baptized on 21 March 1845 at Batley.¹
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as the son of Samuel Newsome at Havercroft, Batley.²
William Henry Lister Newsome married Annie ELiza Whitaker, daughter of Matthew Whitaker, on 4 November 1867 at Hanging Heaton.
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Queen Street, Batley, as a master printer employing 1 man and 2 boys. One general servant is employed.³
William Henry Lister Newsome died on 2 August 1874 at age 29; aged 29, as of Carlinghow New Hall.^4,5

     Norman William Eley was born on 29 April 1874 at Church Gresley, Derbyshire. He was baptized on 23 June 1874 at the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Swadlincote.
He was educated at Burton upon Trent Grammar School, then studied Medicine at Mason's College, Birmingham. Since Birmingham did not yet have University status his degrees were from Durham. He completed his studies in 1896, and then spent some time at Hetton-le-Hole in County Durham.
He was in Batley by 1898 and present at the wedding of Dr Herbert Keighley to Minnie Wilson.
He was listed in the census of 31 March 1901 at 100 Wellington Street, Batley, lodging with Dr. John Woods, by whom he had recently been engaged as a an assistant.¹ He was soon taken into partnership with Dr. Woods and Dr. Herbert Keighley.

Norman William Eley married Ann Eliza Blackburn, daughter of John William Blackburn and Eliza Rebecca Sheard, on 20 December 1906 at Zion Chapel, Batley, The wedding took place shortly before Christmas, and was a small one, but we are told that "Both Dr. Eley and Miss Blackburn were well known, and though the ceremony was of a semi-private nature, a considerable number of people were present to see the nuptial knot tied.²

Few photographs survive from early married days, but some capture a glimpse of happy times.

Following the Insurance Act of in 1911 the Medical partnership was dissolved by mutual agreement and he set up in practice on his own account. Norman William Eley was appointed to the Hon. Medical Staff of Batley and District Hospital in March 1915.
The Medical Directory of that year lists him in practice at The Red House.
He died on 10 January 1917 at Batley at age 42. He was buried on 13 January 1917 at the cemetery, Batley.

     Elizabeth Nightingale was born in 1789 at Dewsbury. She was the daughter of Thomas Nightingale and Ann Ward.

     Ann Nightingale was born in 1791 at Dewsbury. She was the daughter of Thomas Nightingale and Ann Ward.

     Robert Nightingale was born in 1792 at Dewsbury. He was the son of Thomas Nightingale and Ann Ward.

     Hannah Burnley was born on 22 March 1777. She was the daughter of Samuel Burnley and Mary Parsley. Hannah Burnley was baptized on 31 March 1777 at Batley.

     Joseph Burnley was born on 22 January 1779. He was the son of Samuel Burnley and Mary Parsley. Joseph Burnley was baptized on 6 June 1779 at Batley.
