He married Sarah Jackson, daughter of Benjamin Jackson, on 11 July 1838 at Bramham Assumed to be the right marriage in that Abraham married a Sarah, birthplace Leeds, and some of children have middle name Jackson.2,3

1844 saw Abraham Burnley and George Sheard representing Batley interests on the provisional Committee of the proposed Leeds, Dewsbury and Manchester Junction Railway, chaired by Leeds manufacturer John Gott.5
In 1845 Abraham Burnley was pulled out of a partnership with his brothers Samuel and Jacob.6

Abraham Gledhill was born on 15 November 1829.1 He was the son of Joseph Gledhill and Sarah Briggs. In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the son of Joseph Gledhill at Havercroft Lane End, Batley.2
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as a cloth weaver the son of Joseph Gledhill at Havercroft, Batley.3
Abraham Gledhill married Matilda Hepworth, daughter of Sarah Hepworth, on 16 May 1853 (I would thank a descendant of Abraham and Matilda for information on this family).1
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household at Howley Park, Morley, as a woollen weaver.4

This was the Park of Howley Hall, once home of the Saviles, but blown up around 1730.
Whilst such ruins as were left above ground gave little indication of the house's former grandeur, cellars remained, and in doing a little towards clearing these, Abraham Gledhill found a quantity of animal bones locally supposed to be the remains of a large bear said to have been kept at the Hall, and also, and this is still in the possession of a descendant, a silver coin bearing the inscription "Guglielmus III.,1697."1,5


In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Howley Hill, Morley, as a tenterer at mill.6
In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as the head of household at Bradford Road, Batley, as a cloth tenterer.7
In the census of 5 April 1891 he was listed as the head of household as a cloth tenterer.8
He died on 18 August 1895 at age 65; of acute meningitis.
