She married Samuel Preston, son of Joseph Preston and Jane Speight, on 12 November 1846 at Rehoboth Chapel independents, Dewsbury Union, Both made their marks. Samuel was listed as a joiner of Clerk Green; son of Joseph, also a joiner. Witnesses wereJohn Newsome and John Webster.2
Hannah Preston and her son Joseph emigrated in 1858 to Australia to join Samuel, taking an assisted passage on the ship "Caractacus."2
Samuel is believed to have died in Australia and Hannah and her children returned to England.
Hannah Preston married Charles Sheard, son of George Sheard and Rebecca Blakeley, on 8 June 1869 at the Parish Church, Batley, The marriage was by licence and witnesses were Joseph Chadwick and Elizabeth Crowther(?).3,2

In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household at Field Hill, Batley, as a widower, an overlooker in a woollen mill. This was Colbeck's Cheapside Mill, and Malcolm Haigh tells us that he came to be chief wool buyer and blender there.3
Robert Talbot married Ellen Preston in 1863.
In 1865 Robert Talbot and Joseph Talbot set up in business for themselves, first at Birstall and later at Morley, taking into partnership their cousin Samuel Senior.
Robert Talbot was in business with his brother as R and J Talbot and Co., later joined by their cousin Samuel Senior. In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Stanley Terrace, Batley, as a Town Councillor, Woollen manufacturer, master, employing 110 males, 111 females. farmer of 170 acres, master, employing 2 labourers. Also employs one domestic seervant.4
