He was the son of Richard Tingle. Titus Tingle married Sarah Shaw on 25 November 1782 at Mirfield Malcolm Purdy has checked this entry for me. He tells me that Titus signed his name Tingel, but comments that the clerk who filled in the register had several attempts at spelling it, eventually settling on Tingely and then crossing out the y. (when he saw the signature?).2

She died in 1803, but her children were taken in hand by her unmarried brother and their education is said to have been supervised by Shepley at his home at Cold Hiendly.2
