     Samuel Hirst was born circa 1838. He was the son of Isaac Hirst and Mary (?).

     Jane Spurr was born circa 1845. She was the daughter of John Spurr and Rachel Smith. In the census of 30 March 1851 she was listed as a scholar aged 5 the daughter of John Spurr at Clerk Green, Batley.¹

     Kate Louisa Cross was born circa 1848. She married George Spurr, son of John Spurr and Rachel Smith, in 1866.
