     William Clapham was born in 1818. He was the son of Thomas Clapham and Elizabeth Chadwick. William Clapham was baptized on 26 April 1818 at Birstall.¹
He married Mary Ward, daughter of John Ward and Hannah Hartley, on 17 July 1843 at Batley.²

     Mary Dennison was born circa 1805. She married Edward Hemingway, son of Jacob Hemingway and Hannah Dean, on 6 April 1836 at Huddersfield The marriage by licence, Edward being described as of Batley and Mary as of Huddersfield. Witnesses were Thomas Dean and Joseph Brooke.¹
Mary Hemingway died on 18 October 1840 at Dewsbury.²

     Mary Ward was born circa 1819. She was the daughter of John Ward and Hannah Hartley. Mary Ward married William Clapham, son of Thomas Clapham and Elizabeth Chadwick, on 17 July 1843 at Batley.¹

     John Ward married Hannah Hartley on 8 October 1815 at Batley as John Ward of Birstall and Hannah Hartley of Batley. Witnesses were Benjamin Bentley and James Taylor.¹

     Jonathan Foster married Elizabeth Coultas on 26 May 1828 at St Peters, Leeds.¹

     Joseph Purdy was born on 14 February 1794.¹ He was the son of Joseph Purdy and Hannah Colbeck. Joseph Purdy was baptized on 6 April 1794 at Batley.¹
He married Mary Savile on 19 February 1816 at Batley Witnesses were William Ineson and Mary Rothera.¹

     Susanna Purdy was born on 8 February 1792. She was the daughter of Joseph Purdy and Hannah Colbeck. Susanna Purdy was baptized on 25 March 1792 at Batley.¹

     Alice Purdy was born on 17 January 1789.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph Purdy and Hannah Colbeck. Alice Purdy was baptized on 25 February 1789 at Batley.¹
She died in 1789. She was buried on 12 March 1789 at Batley.¹

     Benjamin Purdy was born on 14 March 1790.¹ He was the son of Joseph Purdy and Hannah Colbeck.¹ Benjamin Purdy was baptized on 5 April 1790 at Batley.¹

     Sarah Ineson was born in 1835. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Ineson and Mary Wilkinson. Sarah Ineson was baptized on 4 October 1835 at Batley.¹

     Elizabeth Ineson was born circa 1837. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Ineson and Mary Wilkinson.

     Walter Mitchell was born in 1856. He was the son of Samuel Mitchell and Ellen Bailey. Walter Mitchell died in 1857.

     Ann Mitchell was born in 1861. She was the daughter of Samuel Mitchell and Ellen Bailey. In the census of 2 April 1871 she was listed as a scholar the daughter of Samuel Mitchell at Watson's Buildings, Soothill.¹
Ann Mitchell married Charles Lodge in 1881.²

     Charles Lodge married Ann Mitchell, daughter of Samuel Mitchell and Ellen Bailey, in 1881.¹

     Ellen Dickinson was born in 1818. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Dickinson. Ellen Dickinson married Joseph Dodgshun, son of Isaac Dodgshun and Sarah Dickinson, in 1846.¹

     Joseph Whitaker was born on 7 October 1804. He was the son of John Whitaker and Mary Senior. Joseph Whitaker was baptized on 11 November 1804 at Batley.¹

     Mary Driver married George Wilson, son of Robert Wilson and Hannah Sheard, on 2 December 1827 at Tong.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 Mary Wilson was listed at Havercroft, Batley, as wife of George Wilson.²
Mary Driver died circa 1842. Mary was probably the Mary Wilson buried on 9 December 1842 at Batley.³

     Edward Wilson was born in 1836. He was the son of George Wilson and Mary Driver. Edward Wilson was baptized on 3 July 1836 at Batley.¹
Edward Wilson was also known as Ned Wilson. In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the son of George Wilson at Havercroft, Batley.²
Edward Wilson is said to have worked for the firm of Ephraim Fox as a lad.³
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as a rag grinder the son of George Wilson at Havercroft, Batley.⁴
Edward Wilson married Sarah Peel, daughter of Jeremiah Peel, on 11 October 1856 at Batley.¹
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household at Quarry, Batley, as a Rag Grinder.⁵
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at New Road Side, Batley, as a Rag Grinder.⁶

A newspaper account tells us that when John Blackburn commenced business near Berlin the German employees had trouble with the rag machines and Ned Wilson was sent to train them. In that John William Blackburn was to have accompanied him on this trip this is unlikely to refer to John's earlier German venture, and may refer to the mill at Kopenick.

In the event Ned had to make the journey alone, as John William was detained in London. Lack of German was a barrier, and when the latter joined him he greeted him with,
"By gow, its abaht time tha come, I can mak nowt o this lot."
Though not impressed with the hard black bread available there, in the nine months spent in Germany he did adopt some German ways, and returned home with long curly hair. Chaffed by his mates, however, he soon reverted to short back and sides.
Edward is said to have enjoyed his beer, and it may be that there were times when he over indulged, for John Blackburn once offered him a new suit if he were teetotal for a year. In this Ned succeeded and won the suit.
In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as the head of household at Healey Road, Batley, as a foreman woollen rag grinder.⁷
In the census of 5 April 1891 he was listed as the head of household at 18 Cobden Street, Batley, as a foreman Rag Grinder.⁸
In the census of 31 March 1901 he was listed as the head of household at 18 Cobden St, Batley, as a foreman rag grinder.⁹
He died in 1908.
