He and Samuel Sheard were for a time in partnership as manufacturers with Samuel Senior at Victoria Mill, but he withdrew from the partnership on on 30 December 1857.5 In 1857 Henry Sheard was listed as a manufacturer together with his brother Samuel (Sheard and Senior)The firm are listed as at Victoria Mill under the heading of Blanket Manufacturers and again under the heading of Woollen Manufacturers.6
He and Samuel Sheard with Samuel Seniorwere also among some dozen partners in Toad Pipes Mill, another company venture, where cloth finishing appears to have been carried out, for in 1857 finishing machinery was offered for sale. The partnership between brothers Henry Sheard and Samuel Sheard in the trade of woollen manufacturers, trading as Sheards and Senior or under any other name was dissolved on on 10 June 1861 Stock in hand was offered for sale, and consisted of plain and figured pilots, reversibles, coatings, etc.5,8
Henry Sheard and Abraham Talbot were said to have been two of the partners in the Alexandra Mill Company.9
In 1870 Henry Sheard was listed as a woollen manufacturer, Bradford Road and Alexandra Mill.10
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Batley Field Hill, Batley, as a woollen manufacturer.11
In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as the head of household at Field Hill Gothic Cottage, Batley, as a woollen manufacturer.12
In the census of 5 April 1891 he was listed as the head of household at 7 Field Hill, Batley, as an accountant.13
In the census of 31 March 1901 he was listed as the head of household at 7 Field Hill, Batley, as an accountant.14
He died on 24 December 1905.15
