In the census of 2 April 1911 he was listed as the head of household at The Gables, Upper Batley, Batley, as an architect and land agent to Lord Wilton.6
Arthur Walter Hanstock was associated with his father in the design and erection of the Leeds City meat market extension, Leeds City Public Baths, Selby Public Baths, Ossett Town Hall and many other buildings of note.
He took over the Batley practice on his father's death, and among the many buildings in the locality for which he was the architect are:-
