     John Joseph Burnley was born on 6 July 1856 at Batley.¹ He was the son of Caleb Burnley and Letitia Fox. John Joseph Burnley was baptized on 17 August 1856 at Batley.¹
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as a scholar aged 4 the son of Caleb Burnley at Branch Road, Batley.²
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as a junior clerk to gas works office the grandson of Rachel Shackleton.³

     John Burnley was born on 2 June 1805 at Batley.¹ He was the son of John Burnley and Elizabeth Blakeley. John Burnley was baptized on 21 July 1805 at Batley.¹
He married Harriet Fox, daughter of Phineas Fox and Elizabeth (?), on 22 March 1827 at Dewsbury she was of Soothill at marriage.
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the head of household at Havercroft, Batley, as a woollen manufacturer aged 35. Something of a puzzle here is that this census shows John with a Jane, also shown as 35. His children were baptised as those of John and Harriet, so I think this may be a mistake. Another possiblity is that Harriet was away, (though I cannot find her elsewhere) and some other relative was helping with the children.²
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as the head of household at Havercroft, Batley, as a woollen manufacturer employing 82 men, 16 women, 24 boys & 17 girls.³
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed at Burnley's Mill Fold, Batley, as a woollen flock dealer aged 55.⁴

     Harriet Fox was born circa 1805 at Tottenham, Middlesex. She was the daughter of Phineas Fox and Elizabeth (?). Harriet Fox married John Burnley, son of John Burnley and Elizabeth Blakeley, on 22 March 1827 at Dewsbury she was of Soothill at marriage.
In the census of 30 March 1851 Harriet Burnley was listed at Havercroft, Batley, as wife of John Burnley.¹
Harriet Fox died on 8 July 1851; aged 45 years. She was buried on 10 July 1851 at Batley ; aged 45, of Havercroft.²

     Susan Burnley was born on 4 January 1836 at Batley.¹ She was the daughter of John Burnley and Harriet Fox. Susan Burnley was baptized on 7 February 1836 at Batley.¹

     Fanny Blakeley Victoria Burnley was born on 28 December 1839 at Batley.¹ She was the daughter of John Burnley and Harriet Fox. Fanny Blakeley Victoria Burnley was baptized on 10 February 1840 at Batley as daughter of John Burnley, Manufacturer.¹

In the census of 7 April 1861 she was listed as housekeeper aged 21 the niece of Jacob Burnley.⁴ In the census of 2 April 1871 she was listed as a burler the sister of Elizabeth Blakeley Blakeley.⁵

     Jane Fox Burnley was born on 26 September 1844 at Batley.¹ She was the daughter of John Burnley and Harriet Fox. Jane Fox Burnley was baptized on 10 November 1844.¹

Jane Fox Burnley married William Colbeck, son of William Colbeck and Hannah Armitage, in 1872.³
In the census of 3 April 1881 Jane Fox Colbeck was listed at Wellington Street, Batley, as wife of William Colbeck.⁴

     David Fox was born circa 1845 at Mitcham, Surrey. He was the son of David Fox and Margaret Sheard. In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed aged 4 as the son of David Fox.¹ In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as a scholar the brother of Hortensi Fox.²
David Fox married Mary Hirst on 22 December 1869 at Batley.³

     Ernest Fox was born circa 1850 at Mitcham, Surrey. He was the son of David Fox and Margaret Sheard. In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed aged 1 as the son of David Fox.¹

     Mary Talbot was born on 17 February 1844.¹ She was the daughter of Noah Talbot and Sarah Fell. Mary Talbot was baptized on 14 April 1844 at Batley.¹

     William Hall was born in 1841. He was the son of Benjamin Hall and Elizabeth Sheard. In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as aged 1 month the son of Benjamin Hall at New Batley, Batley.¹

     Harriet Hall was born in 1828. She was the daughter of Benjamin Hall and Elizabeth Sheard. Harriet Hall was baptized on 1 June 1828 at Batley.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 she was listed as aged 13 the daughter of Benjamin Hall at New Batley, Batley.²

     Mary Hall was born in 1830. She was the daughter of Benjamin Hall and Elizabeth Sheard. Mary Hall was baptized on 11 April 1830 at Batley.¹

     William Henry Stubley was born circa 1850 at Dewsbury. He married Emma Stubley Blackburn, daughter of John Blackburn and Hepzibah Bruce.
In the census of 5 April 1891 he was listed as the head of household at the White Horse, Oxford Street, Gomersal, as an inn keeper's man.¹

     Martha Hirst was born circa 1825 at Batley. She was the daughter of Samuel Hirst and Elizabeth Thompson. In the census of 6 June 1841 she was listed as the daughter of Samuel Hirst at Staincliffe End, Batley.¹

     Harriot Hey was born circa 1814 at Batley. She was the daughter of Anna (?). Harriot Hey married George Brearley, son of Robert Brearley and Dorothy Hall, on 25 December 1834 at Batley.¹
In the census of 6 June 1841 Harriot Brearley was listed at Clerk Green, Batley, as wife of George Brearley.²

In the census of 7 April 1861 Harriot Brearley was listed at Killen, Batley, as wife of George Brearley.⁴
In the census of 2 April 1871 Harriot Brearley was listed at Dark Lane, Batley, as wife of George Brearley.⁵
Harriot Brearley died in 1873. She was buried on 31 August 1873 at Batley Cemetery.⁶

     Alice Crowther was born circa 1778. She married James Willans, son of James Willans and Susanna Brooke, on 19 December 1798 at Batley deduced from Dade Registers.¹
Alice Crowther died on 21 November 1855.²

     Abraham Willans was born on 10 May 1807. He was the son of James Willans and Alice Crowther. Abraham Willans was baptized on 14 June 1807 at Batley as Abraham son of James Willans, mason, by Alice his wife daughter of James Crowther.¹
He married Sarah Preston, daughter of David Preston and Charlotte Gregory, on 25 December 1827 at Batley witnessed by Joseph Preston and George Hall.¹
Abraham Willans was buried on 13 June 1838 at Batley ; aged 31.¹

     Sarah Preston was born circa 1805 at Batley. She was the daughter of David Preston and Charlotte Gregory. Sarah Preston was baptized on 10 February 1805 at Batley.¹
She married Abraham Willans, son of James Willans and Alice Crowther, on 25 December 1827 at Batley witnessed by Joseph Preston and George Hall.¹
In the census of 30 March 1851 she was listed as the head of household at Staincliffe, Batley, as engaged in domestic duties.²
In the census of 2 April 1871 she was listed as the head of household at Common Road, Batley, as an annuitant.³
In the census of 3 April 1881 she was listed as the head of household at Common Road, Batley, a widow aged 76, no occupation.⁴
Sarah Preston died on 18 April 1889.

     James Willans was born in 1828 at Batley. He was the son of Abraham Willans and Sarah Preston. James Willans was baptized on 13 April 1828 at Batley.¹
He married Sarah Hannah (?).
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as the head of household at Britannia Bridge, Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll, Anglesey, Wales, as a contractor's clerk.²
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as a widower, a railway contractor aged 43 the son of Sarah Willans at Common Road, Batley.³
In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as the head of household at Tenterfield Lodge, Lewisham, as a contractor for public works. Also present are a niece, Sarah E Willans, and a nephew, Wallace Willans, who is a shipbrokers clerk.⁴
James Willans was buried on 8 January 1885 at the cemetery, Batley.⁵

     Mary Willans was born in 1833. She was the daughter of Abraham Willans and Sarah Preston. Mary Willans was baptized on 22 September 1833 at Batley.¹

In the census of 3 April 1881 she was listed as a dressmaker, having lost some 5 years in age, as has her sister the daughter of Sarah Willans at Common Road, Batley.⁴

     John Taylor was born in 1730. He was the son of John Taylor and Alice Scholefield. John Taylor was baptized on 3 February 1730 at Batley.¹
He married Mary Hainsworth, daughter of Timothy Hainsworth, on 18 June 1764 at Halifax.²
John Taylor died on 30 October 1808.

     Grace Taylor was born on 26 August 1766. She was the daughter of John Taylor and Mary Hainsworth. Grace Taylor was baptized on 25 September 1766 at Batley.¹
She married Abram Greenwood on 1 November 1792 at Batley by licence.¹
