     William Brooke was born in 1806 at Soothill. He was the son of John Brooke and Elizabeth (?). William Brooke was baptized on 26 February 1806 at Dewsbury.1

William Brooke married Sarah Sheard, daughter of Michael Sheard and Sarah Lister, on 29 September 1828 at Batley witnesses David Fox and Joseph Chadwick.2
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the head of household at Havercroft, Batley, as a cordwainer.3
In the census of 30 March 1851 he was listed as the head of household at Havercroft, Batley, widower aged 44, a Rag dealer, 6 labourers.4
In 1855 William Brooke received a legacy of £100 in will of brother in law George Sheard.
In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household at Hick Lane, Batley, a widower, a rag dealer employing 20 hands.5
He married Jane Talbot Fell, daughter of John Fell and Esther Talbot, on 13 September 1861 at Salem Chapel, Dewsbury, witnesses were Benjamin Senior and Edward Taylor.6
He was listed as the head of household in the 2 April 1871 census at Caledonia House, Caledonia Road, Batley, as a Rag Merchant and Town Councillor.7
On 9 November 1873 William Brooke was elected Mayor of Batley, and was to serve a second term the following year.
He died on 13 July 1880.8

     John Blakeley was born on 24 June 1792 at Batley. He was the son of Joseph Blakeley and Mary Sheard. John Blakeley was baptized on 15 July 1792 at Batley.
He married Rose Mary Mason, daughter of William Mason and Tabitha Kaye, on 17 August 1821 at St John's, Wakefield, by licence. John was described as of Dewsbury.1,2

I believe him to have been the John Blakeley of Dewsbury mentioned in the fourth part of a deed of 1823 as in occupation of "that large and commodious scribbling and fulling mill lately erected" -------this on a piece of land near Rouse Mill , and mentioning appurtenances and rights to draw water from Wooler Beck to work a steam engine or engines. He was described as of Dewsbury at the baptism of his chidren.
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as the head of household at Batley Carr Road, Dewsbury, As a rag merchant. John at this time is living next to his brother Robert and close to his brother George.3

Jeremiah Crowther

     Jeremiah Crowther was born circa 1819 at England. He married Hannah Mortimer, daughter of William Mortimer and Betty Hopkinson, on 18 November 1838 at Calverley.
Jeremiah Crowther and Hannah Crowther emigrated to America in 1840 on the "Citizen" from Liverpool, arriving in New York on May 27th. With them was George Crowther, aged 17.1

     Luke Waites married Grace Hopkinson Mortimer, daughter of William Mortimer and Betty Hopkinson, on 31 August 1835 at Tong as Nancy which corresponds with Luke's wife in the 1841 census.
In the census of 6 June 1841 he was listed as an agricultural labourer the son-in-law of William Mortimer.1 In the census of 7 April 1861 he was listed as the head of household at Birkenshaw Bottoms, Gomersal, as a general labourer aged 45.2
In the census of 2 April 1871 he was listed as the head of household at Smithies Lane, Gomersal, as a farm labourer.3
In the census of 3 April 1881 he was listed as the head of household at Brownhill, Batley, as a contractor.4

     Rosamund Thompson was born in 1736. She was the daughter of Thomas Thompson. Rosamund Thompson was baptized on 19 November 1736 at Batley.1
She married William Blakeley, son of Benjamin Blakeley and Sarah Johnson, on 29 December 1756 at Batley Witnesses were John Cowling and Benjamin Healey.1
Rosamund Blakeley married Marmaduke Fox on 31 October 1774 at Batley as Marmaduke Fox of Dewsbury and Rosamund Blakeley of Batley.1
