Jeremiah Crowther and Hannah Crowther emigrated to America in 1840 on the "Citizen" from Liverpool, arriving in New York on May 27th. With them was George Crowther, aged 17.1
In the census of 27 August 1850 he was listed as the head of household at Philadelphia as a spinner aged 31, listed as Crother.2
In the census of 24 July 1860 he was listed as the head of household at Philadelphia as a spooler aged 40, listed as Crother.3
In the census of 13 June 1870 he was listed as the head of household at Philadelphia aged 51, employed in a woollen mill.4
In the census of 1 June 1880 he was listed as the head of household at Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a spinner.5
